We had booked a villa through a USA internet company who assured us that our accommodation would be suitable for my elderly mother who needs assistance getting around and for our single MUST criterion: a calm beach for my mother to enjoy. We discovered BarbadosBarbados.com after paying for the booking and are we glad we did! When we asked Carolyn for her opinion on our choice, she immediately said it would be totally wrong for our needs and a complete disaster for my mother! The company had misrepresented the villa---stairs everywhere which prevented mobility; the beach outside was all reef and rock preventing swimming. Worse, next door was a HUGE construction site: the USA company said it would be "completed by our arrival." My husband who is a builder knew better when Carolyn sent the real time, un-retouched photos to us and we were heartsick. Armed with this, we were able to get a refund on our deposit. Apparently these people hadn't been to Barbados in a while whereas BarbadosBarbados.com is there on the ground. We then booked with Carolyn who went to extraordinary lengths to ensure that the choice of houses we had to choose from was an exact fit for our family---it was perfect. Beautiful calm and sandy beach steps from our veranda, great views for my mother to enjoy, an excellent staff who cooked delicious meals...a GREAT holiday. We cannot say enough about our new friends in Barbados---we cannot wait to return.
