Former Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button will headline the second Barbados Festival of Speed at Bushy Park on Saturday, October 14th 2017. The one-day event will run from, from 2.00pm to 10.00pm (gates and ticket booths open 12.30pm), promising an epic new experience for spectators, thanks to the full-arena lighting recently installed at the circuit.
Button is a winner of 15 grands prix and a podium finisher on 50 occasions. He won his title while racing for the new Brawn GP team in 2009, but moved to McLaren the following year as team-mate to Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton has starred in two major events at Bushy Park: Top Gear Festival Barbados 2014 and last year’s Barbados Festival of Speed.
Last year’s Barbados Festival of Speed featured a wide-ranging programme of activities both on and off-track. This year’s format will include a mixture of old and new international content, with circuit racing, drag racing and karting. A night-time air display will be performed by The Twister Aerobatics Team, the only European outfit certified to fly after-dark shows. The spectacular Twilight Pyrotechnic Display is performed in a pair of 180mph Silence SA1100 Twister aircraft, which bear a passing resemblance to the famous WWII Spitfire fighter plane. Powered by a fuel-injected 110hp UL Power UL260iSA engine. The Silence Twister is a very nimble and highly efficient single-seat aircraft, which is unusual among certified aerobatic aircraft in that it can be de-rigged and packed into a trailer for ease of travel by road, or a container to travel by sea.
Tickets are now on sale on-line and at the Bushy Park Circuit Office.
